Tuesday, March 9, National Master Jon Burgess started a lecture series at Evanston Chess Club. To make it most valuable to ECC regulars, he's lecturing on our games. While it might be fun (if occasionally baffling) to hear a lecture on what Magnus Carlsen's up to, it's even more fun to hear a master's take on a game played by someone you know, who plays closer to your level.
NM Burgess' first lecture featured two games by ECC organizer Tom Sprandel from the Rochester (MN) Grand Summer Open in 2008, as well as two of Jon's own games: a recent correspondence game, and a particularly sharp line against GM Yury Shulman. We are thrilled to announce that NM Burgess plans two more free lectures at the club: April 6, and May 4. Lectures begin at 7:15 p.m. and run about an hour.
We need your games! This is your chance to have a master go over your game.
